GOT BAGS?
We are all aware of the environmental crisis, especially of things that result from HUMAN ACTIVITY . One of the most convenient - and also one of the most diabolical - items that reflect such human activity on our planet are WHITE PLASTIC BAGS, or in fact any non-biodegradable items of any kind made of plastic.

The governing board of the Harbor Area Farmers Markets has recently voted to drastically cut down on the use of such bags in our  markets by PROHIBITING OUR FARMERS AND VENDORS FROM ISSUING SUCH BAGS to you the customer, IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.  From then on the sellers in our markets may use plastic materials for pre-packaged products such as nuts or oranges, but only paper bags for “customer convenience” use.

What does this mean for you the customer?    It means that you must BRING YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE CONTAINERS WITH YOU when you come to our markets.  For you, white plastic bags WILL BE ALLOWED if you bring your own. We recommend that TOTE BAGS  be used, made of cotton or recycled materials.  Almost all of us have plenty of these at home.
We are just not used to bringing  them to market!

Food for thought: Paper, plastic, or re-useable bag

During the months of March and April in all of our 5 markets, we will be selling inexpensive tote bags for your use.Help us to celebrate Earth Day (April 22) with this strong environmental move!
